Welcome Caitlyn Joy!

Caitlyn Joy Wilson joined our family in the wee hours of Saturday November 18th, at 2:25 am. We had our first experience of a homebirth and stand in awe of God's glory and grace. After a long labor, because she was posterior (face up), she entered the world with no interventions and we watched her begin life the way God intended it. We chose not to let the Dr. cut the cord until it stopped pulsing, as this allows oxygen to continue to feed her. This also enabled her to lay on my chest, not being rubbed vigorously made to cry, not having a suction shoved down her nose and throat. But instead, she lay there peacefully, becoming stronger by the minute working things out on her own, with the strength God has given her. We all watched as she turned pink and was bright eyed, ready to face the world. Because she wasn't suctioned, she was able to be very successful in breastfeeding from the very beginning. Mom Robertson was supossed to join us and assist in the homebirth experience, but Caiytlyn was in too much of a hurry to wait for mom's arrival. Since none of our children arrived early we figured with a due date of 11/28, mom's arrival on 11/23 would be just fine. Well, Caitlyn proved us wrong, and arrived 10 days early! But, when we were having trouble during labor and not sure what to do, we were able to call mom and she told us excatly what to do. She was a tremendous help and I am so thankful for her help, even if it was across the world. Our smallest baby yet, she weighed 3kg, 6lbs 4oz, and was 20 inches long.

You like the dentist??

So, you know you found a winning dentist when your son says "Yeah, I like the dentist!" when you tell him of an appointment that day. Bizzarre as it may seem I can sort of understand why. You see, they put you in the chair but then they sweet talk you while putting on sunglasses so as not to ge the bright light in your eyes, and then they put on one of your favorite movies to watch while they clean your teeth. Only thing is when they try and educate the child about brushing or whatever else dentists teach, he has no idea they are talking to him because he is lost in Ice Age 2! I finally told her to turn the movie off when she wants to tell him something. Then we found he has a small cavity in one of his molars, so we needed to fil it. She said today was good because he is so intense with the movie. Alright, I agreed. The picture above is Aaron, despite what it looks like, extremely relaxed and totally oblivious that he is getting a HUGE NEEDLE injected into his gums! This was completely amazing to me! And personally, I didn't think the movie was all that great to begin with.

This is Steve's attempt at trying to convince me that the new x-box is really for the boys, not for him. You can tell the boys don't actually care who it's for, as long as they get to play! 

I decided to share our experiences in Asia this way, seeing how my free time will be severely limited in the weeks to come. Caitlyn Joy is due to arrive around November 28th, but we are all hoping she comes just a few days sooner. The boys and I made a paper chain to count down the days until gramma Robertson comes to visit. There are currently 25 days left! She is coming to help with the birth and 1st week post partum. This means that the inevitable is coming quicker than I realize! Since I signed up for a Bachelors in Science of Holistic Nutrition, before I planned another pregnancy, I have lots of work to do before she arrives. I have a final to take and a project to hand in by Nov. 21st! This should keep me busy, and the time going by fast. Today we had a Harvest Party with our good friends from church. All the children were dressed up, which was really cute to see. Ethan decided he didn't want to play anymore when he saw a little girl dressed as a witch. And who can blame him, I guess. He clung to my side for the next hour and a half while I tried to convince him it was okay, and much more fun upsatirs with all the children than with the adults. He eventually went up, but it's not to say without some bribing with chocolate. Hey, I was by myself the whole day, and adult conversation comes at a premium these days! We ended the party departing with one black eye. Ryan and a friend were wrestling and apparently the other party had a bowling pin for a weapon. Well, it found it's way to Ryan's face and we now have a pretty black eye to go to school with tomorrow. They are going to start questioning us soon, he just got rid of the big bump on his head from wresling his brothers last week. Boys will be boys, so they say.
