Impersonations
One of the boys favorite things to do is to dress up as Batman, Spiderman, and Superman. They are often dressed up when we go for family walk, and the looks we get are quite funny.
They also recived indian costumes from gramma, much like the one daddy wore in Indian Guides when her was younger. This went over huge! I never know who I will be greeting each morning as I get up, but more than likely it will not be just a regular boy!

Big Brothers
Caitlyn...JOY???
Well, one of the reasons I gave her the middle name of Joy is because I was so sure she would have a Joyful heart! It was my mission in life to pray it into her and make sure she was joyful, if there was anything I could do about it, it would be done.
You can imagine my dismay when she does nothing but fuss, scream and have a sour look on her face for the first month of her life! I can tell right away she has a short temper, Steve and I have no idea where that came from. This, however, can be trained. But, she cries alot, screams when she goes potty and is just plain unhappy.
The good news is I think we have discovered the reasons for her un-joyful-ness (is that a word?). I will spare all the details, but we discovered she is sensitive to dairy products! This is not a big surprise since Aaron was as well. She is also a bit sensitive to all the veggies I am eating, as well as the chocolate. I even buy the chocolate with no milk, come-on, you can't deny a girl her chocolate! We need to have a little woman to woman chat about that one, everything else is do-able.
Since taking out all the dairy she is a much happier baby. There are times when she fusses and screams, but she's a baby, they gotta do that a little. I have just succumbed to the fact she is sensitive and I will need to be very careful with what I eat. This isn't difficult for me since I love the area of nutrition and how it affects the body, and, as Steve can attest, my diet is quite bland to begin with.
So, here are a few pictures where she is actually happy. They are quite hard to come by, so this is exciting for me! Hopefully we wil have many more of them to come!

Going out in style
Mom was finally able to get out and see some of Singapore the last weekend she was here. Steve took Friday and Monday off from work and showed her some of the island. This gave me some peaceful time at home, just me and Caitlyn, which, ofcourse, I loved!
They went to Jurong Water Park, the Chinese Gardens, Sentosa Beach and the luge, and to see the Merlion. Sunday night mom and I went to the Night Safari, which was fantastic! Then all afternoon on Monday we went shopping. You can never start too young you know, and mom wanted a hand at teaching Caitlyn to shop.
There's nothing like packing it all in one weekend, but she loved it!
Who are you, and why are you following me??
We have all been having fun quoting lines from our favorite movies while mom has been here. The lines from Finding Nemo seem to be most popular. I think mom and Caitlyn have a secret little thing going, because Caitlyn looks at her with this funny look like mom is from outerspace or something and mom says "Who are you, and Why are you followiong me?" This looks exactly like what Caitlyn might be thinking!

This is the life
Mom and I decided we needed some pampering one day, after all, we are working very hard you know. Between taking care of the boys and being sleep deprived, who can argue! For those of you back home in reality, don't answer that!
So, we had a pedicurist (is that a real word?) come to the house and give each of us a pedicure. It was wonderfully relaxing and we had a nice conversation with this person, from South Africa, who at 28, had already been to almost every continent. But she was amazed at the fact I was "so young" and had "all these children"! Mom and I got a good laugh from that.
I don't think it will be hard to convince mom to come back again next year. Convincing dad on the other hand, will be a bigger challenge!
Aaron lost his first tooth!
One morning as I awake from my stupor, I am bombarded with this amazing story told by Aaron. It entaled something like Ethan coming down the steps of the bunkbed and his foot somehow hitting Aaron's face, which knocked out his tooth. This is being told by a excited Aaron with a bloody face, totally oblivious of the fact he has no idea where his tooth went, or that he has blood all over! Thankfully his tooth was ready to come out any day, and we were all talking about how it would happen very soon.
He looks very cute with the little hole in the front of his teeth.

Three men and a little lady
The boys came down the following afternoon to meet thier new baby sister. It was really interesting to see each of thier unique reactions to her. Ryan was gentle and loving, wanting to hold her immediately. Aaron is extremely interested in her and how things worked, including the umbilical cord and how squishy it was. And Ethan, well he was a bit set off. It was hard to read exactly what he was thinking. He wanted to like her, but also was upset at the disruption everything had caused to his routine. So, we didn't push him to do much of anything, but within a few minutes he was ready to hug her. What a special sight it was!
She is so blessed to have 3 brothers to love and care for her. I think this will be very instrumental in years to come as we encounter the various things that come with having a beautiful girl in the family!
Each one of them have continued to show top her love in thier own special way. Ryan prides himself in how she responds to his gentleness in holding her, and can't wait until she can play Battleship with him. Aaron has many questions including things like how she drinks milk, and why her parts look different and when her cord falls off what that will be like. Ethan continues to be a bit skeptical but every once in a while I catch him gazing at her lovingly.
Children are surely a blessing from The Lord!

Welcome Caitlyn Joy!
Caitlyn Joy Wilson joined our family in the wee hours of Saturday November 18th, at 2:25 am. We had our first experience of a homebirth and stand in awe of God's glory and grace. After a long labor, because she was posterior (face up), she entered the world with no interventions and we watched her begin life the way God intended it. We chose not to let the Dr. cut the cord until it stopped pulsing, as this allows oxygen to continue to feed her. This also enabled her to lay on my chest, not being rubbed vigorously made to cry, not having a suction shoved down her nose and throat. But instead, she lay there peacefully, becoming stronger by the minute working things out on her own, with the strength God has given her. We all watched as she turned pink and was bright eyed, ready to face the world. Because she wasn't suctioned, she was able to be very successful in breastfeeding from the very beginning.
Mom Robertson was supossed to join us and assist in the homebirth experience, but Caiytlyn was in too much of a hurry to wait for mom's arrival. Since none of our children arrived early we figured with a due date of 11/28, mom's arrival on 11/23 would be just fine. Well, Caitlyn proved us wrong, and arrived 10 days early! But, when we were having trouble during labor and not sure what to do, we were able to call mom and she told us excatly what to do. She was a tremendous help and I am so thankful for her help, even if it was across the world.
Our smallest baby yet, she weighed 3kg, 6lbs 4oz, and was 20 inches long.

You like the dentist??
So, you know you found a winning dentist when your son says "Yeah, I like the dentist!" when you tell him of an appointment that day. Bizzarre as it may seem I can sort of understand why.
You see, they put you in the chair but then they sweet talk you while putting on sunglasses so as not to ge the bright light in your eyes, and then they put on one of your favorite movies to watch while they clean your teeth.
Only thing is when they try and educate the child about brushing or whatever else dentists teach, he has no idea they are talking to him because he is lost in Ice Age 2! I finally told her to turn the movie off when she wants to tell him something.
Then we found he has a small cavity in one of his molars, so we needed to fil it. She said today was good because he is so intense with the movie. Alright, I agreed. The picture above is Aaron, despite what it looks like, extremely relaxed and totally oblivious that he is getting a HUGE NEEDLE injected into his gums! This was completely amazing to me! And personally, I didn't think the movie was all that great to begin with.

I decided to share our experiences in Asia this way, seeing how my free time will be severely limited in the weeks to come.
Caitlyn Joy is due to arrive around November 28th, but we are all hoping she comes just a few days sooner. The boys and I made a paper chain to count down the days until gramma Robertson comes to visit. There are currently 25 days left! She is coming to help with the birth and 1st week post partum. This means that the inevitable is coming quicker than I realize!
Since I signed up for a Bachelors in Science of Holistic Nutrition, before I planned another pregnancy, I have lots of work to do before she arrives. I have a final to take and a project to hand in by Nov. 21st! This should keep me busy, and the time going by fast.
Today we had a Harvest Party with our good friends from church. All the children were dressed up, which was really cute to see. Ethan decided he didn't want to play anymore when he saw a little girl dressed as a witch. And who can blame him, I guess. He clung to my side for the next hour and a half while I tried to convince him it was okay, and much more fun upsatirs with all the children than with the adults. He eventually went up, but it's not to say without some bribing with chocolate. Hey, I was by myself the whole day, and adult conversation comes at a premium these days!
We ended the party departing with one black eye. Ryan and a friend were wrestling and apparently the other party had a bowling pin for a weapon. Well, it found it's way to Ryan's face and we now have a pretty black eye to go to school with tomorrow. They are going to start questioning us soon, he just got rid of the big bump on his head from wresling his brothers last week. Boys will be boys, so they say.
